On Role of Lorentzian Calibration in Equations of Electrodynamics

The Lorentzian calibration condition is shown to be equivalent to the D’Alembert equations and to represent a closing part of the unified system. In these circumstances, contrary to the popular opinion in the educational and scientific literature, there is a connection between scalar and vector potentials. The Lorentzian calibration condition reduces the variety of admissible solutions for the family of equations to those equivalent to solutions of the Maxwell equation system.
