Based on a simple physical model the theoretical feasibility to observe and register a spectrum of the natural scene self-emission with the aid of a FTIR spectroradiometer is substantiated. The required spectroradiometer characteristics - spectral region, resolving and scan time are given. A prototype of a mobile Fourier spectroradiometer is developed and fabricated and its full-scale tests are conducted. Estimates of minimal detectable concentrations are presented for some ecologically important substances.
