The investigation of properties of various mathematical distributions has allowed one to extract from them the Erlang distribution of the mth order to describe the distribution of clusters in simple and organic liquids by a number of particles contained in them on the saturation line. The mean and most probable values of the number of particles in a cluster are calculated and compared with experimental data for the number of the nearest neighbors Z1 that were obtained on the basis of the analysis of the radial distribution function g(r). The offered technique of calculation of the number Z of particles in a cluster enables one to find this quantity dependence on state parameters of the substance (temperature T and pressure P). The relation to evaluate the average energy of formation of the cluster kernel - dimmer - in the first coordination sphere is suggested.
