Peculiarities are considered of solving a problem on propagation of waves along the surface of the viscous conducting liquid being heated underneath in the constant electric field perpendicular to the undisturbed surface. It is shown that the interaction of exciting factors (electrical and thermal ones) influences substantially the beginning of the convective instability development especially when the electric field values are in the vicinity of critical ones. Numerical calculations of corresponding curves of critical Rayleigh number values are performed. Qualitative behavior of the spectral equation solution is discussed. Boundary conditions for qualitatively different solutions are illustrated.
