Numerical Simulation of Gas Flows in Air Inlet Channels Based on Navier-Stokes Equations

An algorithm is proposed for numerical solving of Navier-Stokes equations in adaptive coordinates for domains with a complicated form, which is based on the method of band-adaptive grids and the TVD scheme of the 2nd order of accuracy. Results of numerical testing of the algorithm are presented for the problem on the supersonic stream flowing into the channel with a step and the flow in the channel of the supersonic air inlet. The comparison of flow modes of the ideal and viscous gases is performed, which has demonstrated that values of the flow parameters (pressure, density, and wall temperatures) for the viscous gas exceed substantially those for the ideal gas.
