A model of particle transport from the plasma of the field-reversed configuration is formulated. The equilibrium 2D structure of the field-reversed configuration is investigated on the basis of the Grad-Shafranov equation using the model profiles of pressure. The developed technique makes it possible to compare adequately the experimental data on the particle confinement with the estimations by the model of gradient drift instabilities. The agreement of the theoretical and experimental data testifies in favor of the hypothesis of transport caused by these instabilities.
