Confidence interval calculations for the system availability index with recoverable components

The paper discusses the problem of calculating the confidence interval of the system availability index for the serial structure with recoverable components. The system components are assumed to both fail and recover independently from each other. The problem is solved using the results of testing the system components while censoring the number of the observed failures. The method of calculating the lower confidence interval of the system availability index, which allows improving the prior known Lloyd-Lipova method, is presented.
